10th-month

10th month of development

In the tenth month ...

What it can do at the end of the 10th month of life:
•    It can stand upright when supported.
•    It can sit unassisted for 10 minutes.
•    It can crawl.
•    It can stand on its feet.
•    It reacts when someone takes one of its toys.
•    It can say "mum" or "dad" without telling who is who apart.
•    It can tell apart strangers from people it knows and does not feel comfortable with strangers.
•    It may even want to avoid people it knows, seeking one person, the one that cares for it most.
•    It hands out hugs generously.
•    It moves about crawling.
•    It recognizes some words and persons when they are mentioned by name (e.g. it looks at its dad when it hears the word "dad").

Attention! All children are different from each other and each one has its own growth rate. The development stages described are based on the average rate. Do not worry if your baby deviates from this average. If however you do notice something worrying in its development, contact your pediatrician.
