My Secrets for the Perfect Diaper Change!
Changing diapers is perhaps the most frequent daily task for parents, and after the first month, it becomes almost automatic. However, after changing thousands of diapers for my two kids, I want to share some key tips to make the process more enjoyable and, most importantly, safer!
1. Lay Your Baby Down Gently
Place your baby gently on the changing table. Babies in your arms may not want to be separated, so avoid sudden movements. Instead, gradually lower them, supporting their head with your hands as they move from your chest to the table.
2. Keep Talking
Throughout the process, talk or sing to your baby and maintain eye contact as much as possible. This helps them feel secure and connected.
3. Use a Proper Pillow
Place a pillow under your baby’s head for support. It should be large enough to protect their head from hitting any hard surfaces, but not so big that it strains their neck. Adjust the pillow size as your baby grows.
4. Warm Your Hands
Rub your hands together to warm them before touching your baby. Cold hands can be unpleasant and cause them to squirm or fuss.
5. Gentle Cleansing
Open the diaper carefully and clean with soft, gentle movements. I love Babylino Sensitive Baby Wipes for their hypoallergenic formula enriched with organic chamomile extract. My babies have very sensitive skin, and these wipes are dermatologically tested on sensitive skin.
- They’re made mainly with plant-based ingredients, ideal for baby skin.
- The plastic lid helps maintain their moisture and delightful baby scent.
These wipes don’t just clean; they also care for delicate skin and help protect against rashes and irritation. We carry them everywhere—from short strolls to long trips!
After cleaning, apply a thin layer of cream, allow it to dry, and put on a fresh diaper.
6. Choose the Right Diaper
From day one, we’ve used Babylino Sensitive Cotton Soft diapers. Here’s why:
- Medically Tested and dermatologically approved, they are made with skin-friendly materials.
- Certified by the European Commission with the Product Safety Award.
- First in Europe to receive OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification, ensuring they are free from more than 200 harmful substances.
These diapers provide not only exceptional dryness but also safe, skin-friendly protection for your baby.
7. Keep Everything Close
Always keep diapers, wipes and baby cream within arm’s reach to avoid stepping away from the changing table. I ensure there’s always a stock nearby so I never have to leave my baby unattended.
8. Secure the Diaper Properly
Fasten the diaper snugly to fit your baby’s body well, but not too tight. Once your baby is dressed, pick him/her up, give him/her a loving cuddle, and a gentle kiss!
9. Stick to a Routine
Babies love consistency. If you have a specific way of changing diapers, stick to it. Sudden changes in their routine can upset them.
With all my love,
Myrto
