37th week

LET'S GET MEASURED!
Size of baby: 47 cm
Baby's weight: 2.95 kilos
Soon the baby completes its... "service" in your body and will want to see what lies beyond it! Countdown and agony climaxes! Try to enjoy your nights as much as you can, because after the birth it will be a while until you can get a chance for deep and restful sleep again. Its head usually has hair by now, but do not be surprised they turn out to be less than you expected. Each baby has its own physiology!

DID YOU KNOW THAT?

...The newborn's hair may neither have the mother's hair colour nor the father's hair colour? Parents have of course inherited their genes to the baby, but at the same time it is likely they have "transferred" genes from his grandmother and grandfather too! So, and this mainly goes out to the father, if you're both brunette and you see blonde hair on the baby, do not give an evil look to your partner! None of you is to blame...maybe it's the genes' fault and the combination they decided to "craft" on your baby's head!
Also, keep in mind that the colour you see is not necessarily the final hair colour. The first hair will "fall off" and new stronger and more robust follicles will start to come out. They will determine the final colour much later.
If the delivery date is dependent on your baby, wait and enjoy it... Some babies hurry to come out, while others are more lazy. That's why you cannot know what that day will be. You only have a time limit, which your doctor has already set for you. Now, if the doctor deems that the baby should be born by caesarean due to possible complications, that means that you already know the delivery date and this is not, usually (unless something happens), not before the 39th week.
Let us see some symptoms, which will lead to labour:
The baby lowers with its head downwards, i.e. takes its final position (if not have done so already). You pelvis bears more weight and you feel the weight lower in your vagina, like the baby "slipping away". Vaginal mucus gets a darker colour and becomes thick. Braxton Hicks contractions become more frequent as the cervix gets in preparation. You expect the pain in the lower area, but it comes from your back and "wraps" around your belly. Yes, all of the above are warning signs of labour!
To understand what the contractions you feel now mean observe their frequency and intensity. If they are irregular and non-rhythmic, you're just in preparation... But if they are steadily increasing in intensity and above all in rhythm (which does not stop if you change, for example, position in bed), get dressed and get in the car! Yes, inform your doctor first.
Whether you see some fluid in your underwear (small or large amount), or not, if you have all the above symptoms, do not expect to get wet from amniotic fluid. Labour may have started but without "your water breaking"! In such a case, this will be artificially induced by the doctor, for your own and your baby's safety.

Advice
The first day out with the baby is when you leave the hospital...! You must therefore mind its safety. If you are going to use the car to move around, it is very important that you have already procured a special child seat. It's easy to think about it, but it is difficult doing it. Assemble, disassemble, move, tie...! Do not neglect that and leave it for the last moment. Now is the time for your partner to search and find a nice, convenient and above all, safe car seat, which he must install in your car before you give birth! Very important!
Have a pleasant week... and enjoy moving around!
